How does SteamCleaner work?

Rennoa™ SteamCleaner uses steam at up to 100°C and 4 bar pressure to dissolve dirt, grease, limescale and bacteria – without the use of chemicals. The steam penetrates even small cracks and loosens stubborn dirt in a gentle but effective way.

Can it remove dirt without chemicals?

Yes. Steam effectively dissolves grease, limescale, dirt and microorganisms – without the use of cleaning agents. This is due to the high temperature and pressure, which break down organic residues and loosen dirt from surfaces.

Can it be used on carpets?

Yes, Rennoa™ SteamCleaner can be used on carpets. The steam kills dust mites and their eggs, and is gentler than chemicals, which can leave residue in the carpet. Remember to vacuum afterwards to completely remove dead dust mites, eggs and dirt.

How long should I steam an area to kill dust mites?

Dust mites die at around 55–60 °C. The Rennoa SteamCleaner emits steam at over 100 °C, which quickly kills them. Hold the nozzle close to the surface and move it slowly – about 5–10 seconds per area of about 10×10 cm is enough for the heat to penetrate the fabric. Make sure to cover the entire surface systematically and let the material dry afterwards.

What temperature is needed to kill bacteria?

Most bacteria die at temperatures above 60 °C, but to achieve a disinfecting effect, steam above 80–100 °C is typically required. Rennoa™ SteamCleaner produces steam at approximately 100 °C, which is effective against many common bacteria.

Does it remove mold?

Rennoa™ SteamCleaner can effectively help remove superficial mold on hard, dense surfaces such as tiles, grout, glass, metal and enamel.

The steam is heated to approximately 100°C, which is sufficient to kill the mold spores on the surface. Combined with the pressure, the steam also loosens the organic residues of the mold, making them easier to wipe away.

Please note, however:

  • Steam does not remove mold deep within materials (e.g. drywall or wood) where the fungus has grown into the structure.
  • For deeper or persistent problems, you should combine with mold removers or professional treatment.
  • Never use the steam cleaner on untreated or absorbent materials where moisture can penetrate and worsen the problem.

How long does it take to heat up?

Our SteamCleaner is ready to use in about 15 seconds so you can clean quickly.

It sprays a little water at first – is this normal?

Yes, this is completely normal. For the first 2–5 seconds, it may spray out a little water while it heats up and builds pressure. This is just residual water being forced out of the system.

How do I refill water?

  1. Turn off and unplug.
  2. Open the lid at the top.
  3. Fill up to 1250 ml of tap water (you can use distilled water to minimize limescale, but it is not a requirement).
  4. Close the lid tightly.
  5. After use, you can empty the water by pulling out the plug at the bottom.

What surfaces and places can I use it on?

SteamCleaner can be used on an incredible number of surfaces – here are some of the most obvious:

Kitchen: Remove grease from ovens, hoods, refrigerators, sinks, grills and countertops. Effectively clean around food residue and hard-to-reach corners.

Tiles and clinker: Restore the shine to ceramic surfaces and remove stains and dirt between the joints – quickly and without wear.

The car: Steam clean seats, door edges, mats and dashboard – effectively and without chemicals.

Living room: Freshen up sofas, armchairs and leather furniture. Removes stains and bad odors.

Bedroom: Clean mattresses and upholstered furniture – reduce dust mites and allergens with steam treatment.

Bathroom: Remove limescale, soap scum and bacteria in the toilet, shower and sink. Particularly effective against stains and stubborn dirt.

Other things it can be used for:

  • Shoe cleaning
  • Defrost the freezer
  • High chairs, strollers and toys
  • Stoves and ventilation grilles
  • Garden gates and patio furniture

NOTE: Always test on a small, discreet area first – especially with delicate or untreated materials.

Where should I not use it?

We do not recommend using it on items and surfaces that cannot tolerate steam. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Wooden floors
  • Laminate flooring
  • Painted and varnished surfaces with damage
  • Plaster, cork and raw wood
  • Wallpaper and old materials

It is the user's own responsibility to ensure that the materials on which the Steam Cleaner is used can withstand steam.

How do I maintain my SteamCleaner?

To keep your SteamCleaner in top shape:

  • Always empty the water tank after use.
  • Using tap water is fine. If you want less limescale, you can use distilled water – especially if you live in an area with hard water.
  • Descale with vinegar or descaling agent if the steam becomes weak.
  • Clean the mouthpieces with the included cleaning stick.
  • The microfiber cloth can be rinsed in warm water or machine washed.
  • Replace the rubber ring if you experience leaks around the mouthpiece.
  • Store the unit dry and without water in the tank.
